Perhaps most important now is maintaining a sense of positivity, to see the light in the darkness, and find grounding in the chaos—to seek out beauty and enjoyment despite any other feelings that might arise. Artist and founder of Bay Area-based studio People I’ve Loved, Carissa Potter, has created just the thing with a playful yet entirely practical checklist of activities to stay calm in uncertain times. See below. Potter recommends inserting “someone or something that comforts you in place of the dog,” though a pet with a furry loved one is sometimes the best form of comfort.
Potter has also launched a new platform called “If You Were Here Now,” with the people at @chandrangallery and @juxtapozmag that offers a daily video series of artists doing something they find to be therapeutic. The posts include physical movement, creative courses, and more. Check it out at @ifyouwereherenow.
